Earliest Memory

When I was about 4 or 5 my grandfather had a blood clot in his heart. When the doctors went in to put stints in his heart. The clot exploded and it all of the clot went down into his leg. Luckily the clot going into his leg saved his life, but they had to amputate my grandfathers leg. Because of the unexpected amputation he was in the hospital for a lot longer than anticipated and then he did therapy so he could learn how to walk on his new leg. My earliest memory was when my mom took me to the hospital to visit. There was a huge cafeteria type room with round tables and chairs. I remember walking in to the room and it being pretty empty. I saw my grandma and grandpa sitting at one of the tables across the room. I torn my hand out of my moms and went running across the room into my grandpas arms. I don't remember anything else about the visit, or a lot of him learning to use his new leg. I remember a couple of doctors visits. I also remember when he would have grumpy days my grandma would tease him by saying "I'm going to beat you with your own leg"
